Fodor's Expert Review Tastings

Going to the grocery store was never like this. Run by Rochester grocery giant Wegmans, this upscale, brick-walled and polished-wood restaurant is adjacent to the huge, flagship Pittsford store. Chefs use the best of the supermarket's fresh, seasonal ingredients, turning out such contemporary fare as a blackened pork chop in an apple-bacon jus and seared red snapper with a lemon couscous, spinach, and curried cauliflower puree. Sushi is also available, as is a three-course chef's choice sushi menu and reasonably priced four- and five-course tastings menus. The open kitchen lets you watch the preparations; two chef's tables put you in the front row.
