Fodor's Expert Review Nightingale 9

$$ Carroll Gardens Lunch

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

Though it's named after an old Brooklyn telephone code, Nightingale 9 takes its culinary inspiration from "long distance": Asia. Dishes are reimagined with Chef Rob Newton's Arkansas childhood in mind, resulting in plates like grilled Mississippi catfish served cha ca style or duck salad with collard greens, sweet potato, chili, and basil. The setting is minimalist: concrete floor, whitewashed brick, metal seating, a few travel photographs. Pride of place goes to the Beastie Boys poster near the glassy entrance.
