The cracker-thin crust of the Roman-style pizzas at Marta are a refreshing break from the thicker crust of the Neapolitan pizzas that have overtaken Manhattan in recent years, and we have beloved restaurateur Danny Meyer and chef Lena Ciardullo to thank for it. The buzzy, high-ceiling dining room belies the casual fare, but the menu is a love letter to salt-of-the-earth Roman food that includes, in addition to the excellent pizzas, a variety of meat and fish options from the wood-fire oven.
