Quality amenities set this property apart from other midtown hotels, with a bamboo garden for yoga and meditation, a sun-filled glass atrium, and a 5,000-square-foot spa with steam room, sauna, and hot tubs. There is some serious relaxation happening in this place, people. This modern property is decorated with streamlined furnishings, muted tones, and lots of glass.

YOU SHOULD KNOW Nighttime noise can be a problem here.

Ranging from dorm-style sleep shares to one-bedroom suites, rooms are available at a range of price points. All rooms have sleek touches like mirrored headboards, low-lit bedside cubes, and spacious work areas.

Budget-conscious (and extremely laid back) travelers will want to check out the bunk rooms, with personal-TV-outfitted bunk beds, an en-suite bathroom, and storage cubbies.

Spacious bathrooms have subway tile, walk-in showers, and C. O. Bigelow bath products. Fancy.

The sharp lobby is decorated in black and white with wood accents at the check-in desk. The lobby is complemented by other attractive common spaces including the bamboo garden and super elegant glass atrium.

The bright Lindeman Restaurant is an all-day eatery serving American fare like upscale sandwiches and pizza. The Sunday brunch with bottomless drinks is a popular weekend staple (naturally). The Lindeman Bar serves cocktails and small plates.

Getting Around

Located on 42nd Street between 10th Avenue and 11th Avenue, this hotel is located among the bright lights of midtown Manhattan. This area west of Times Square is called Hell’s Kitchen, and in recent years has gained attention for developing a neighborhood feel with new restaurants, bars, and shops. Subway access is a few long avenue blocks away at 42nd Street and 8th Avenue (A, C, and E trains) and the 1, 2, and 3 trains are one block further east on 7th Avenue. Taxis and Uber are widely available, but traffic congestion is a common problem.

Gotham West Market (5-minute walk) is an upscale food hall with a wide range of choices. Top vendors include Ample Hills Creamery for ice cream made in Brooklyn, Ivan Ramen Slurp Shop for ramen bowls, and Choza Taqueria for tacos. For a refined, southern-Italian inspired meal, make a reservation at Esca (5-minute walk), Chef Mario Batali’s midtown trattoria. At Friedman’s (8-minute walk), American fare is prepared with fresh, local ingredients and a healthy twist in an unfussy environment.

Tavola (9-minute walk) is an Italian restaurant with a wood-burning oven and a long, attractive bar—grab a seat for an Italian beer or glass of wine. For a craft beer in Hell’s Kitchen, check out the casual Pony Bar (4-minute walk).

Sleek and streamlined, this modern hotel provides a nice retreat from the bustling streets of midtown. We love the long and super luxurious list of amenities, including the large spa with hot tubs and the sun-filled atrium. The bamboo garden is a small slice of zen in an often chaotic part of Manhattan.
