Fodor's Expert Review NOMO SOHO
9 Crosby St., New York, New York 10013, USA See on Map Fodor's Choice
Fairy tale-inspired style and a chic SoHo vibe make this property a winner for anyone in search of a fun downtown New York experience. The building's glass tower peaks above the low-rise neighborhood, providing skyline views in all directions (even from the showers). Bring your fashion A-game for a drink at the bar (or else you will feel extremely out of place). Shopping in the cobbled streets surrounding the hotel is some of the best in the city.
room
A serene blue-and-white color scheme, lots of mirrored surfaces, and floor-to-ceiling windows give the small rooms a feeling of space. Rooms on higher floors are worth the splurge for the views. Beds are unbelievably comfortable.
Rooms here face in all directions. If there's a specific landmark you would like in your view (such as the Empire State Building or the Freedom Tower) make a request in your reservation.
bathroom
Sleek, marble bathrooms are stocked with Molton Brown toiletries.
YOU SHOULD KNOW Either leave your modesty at home, or book a room all to yourself, because showers have floor-to-ceiling, exterior-facing glass.
lobby
A beautiful, arched passageway lined with ivy and sparking lights leads the way to the open lobby. Everything about this place makes you feel like you're in a gigantic, super chic fairy tale, and the furniture and design in the lobby definitely play a role in this.
dining
A fashionable restaurant and bar set in a greenhouse-like space on the ground floor is lit by candles and chandeliers. Also, it's absolutely beautiful. The menu has lots of choices for bar snacks (from mini grouper tacos to cauliflower tempura) to accompany specialty cocktails.
LOCATION
Getting Around
Located in the charming heart of SoHo, the neighborhood’s famous shopping and dining are all on the doorstep of this hotel. A central location also offers easy access to several downtown Manhattan neighborhoods on foot, including Tribeca, Nolita, and Chinatown. Subway access is nearby on Canal Street (N, Q, R, W and J, Z trains) and taxis or Uber are widely available in the area.
Restaurants
For a French cuisine, white tablecloth kind of night on the town, make a reservation at Le Coucou (2-minute walk), a modern setting for classic fare. Diner favorites have been updated at Nikel & Diner (2-minute walk), a bright and airy restaurant with cozy booths, buttermilk pancakes, and eggs benedict. They've got a wood-fired oven that produces delicious pizzas, meats, and fish at Pasquale Jones (6-minute walk); try the little neck clam pizza with lemon and cream.
WHY WE LIKE IT
From the pebbled garden with a swing to the glass-covered restaurant, this hotel provides plenty of cozy common spaces for people watching. Views are truly exceptional and the whole place feels like a gigantic fairy tale set in the middle of the city. We love the location, on a charming street in SoHo, with several of the best downtown neighborhoods a short walk away.
