4 Best Shopping in Long Island, New York

Beall & Bell

There's a reason why this antiques shop is where style gurus go for inspiration—the owners source serious treasures from the area, where many of the grand houses have been passed down through the generations and have valuable and unique odds and ends in their attics, some going back centuries.

Greenport Fire

In a town full of quaint boutiques, chic antiques, and fashion, this shop stands out—dimly lit, with a funky, rock-and-roll vibe, its walls and ceiling are covered with old record albums and vintage items like a photograph of "The Fonz." Stock includes hand-rolled cigars; a huge selection of hot sauce, including their own branded sauces; bags of coffee; incense; and candles.

Preston's of Ships & Sea

The building is a fixture in Greenport—a wharfside ship's chandlery dating from 1880—and Preston's continues the nautical theme with its inventory of marine supplies and clothing. Giftware includes scrimshaw, jewelry, sailing books, and all things nautical for the boat and home.

Taste

High-end it may be, but this Main Street boutique's fashions are affordable and interesting. More than 13 years in business, owners Lee and Charles enjoy finding unique garments, jewelry, and clever accesories and trinkets like "wine bottle" umbrellas and handmade soap "rocks" (which actually look more like polished crystal). The store attracts loyal regulars looking for fun new fashions and wares, so stock rotates often. Many of their clothes happen to travel well.
