Fodor's Review

Nestled in the heart of the artsy, country-chic village of Tesuque (just a 10-minute drive from the Plaza and a couple of miles from the opera house), this laid-back café and impressively stocked neighborhood grocery store has long been famous for its eclectic clientele and charming patio dining area (the inside room can feel a little cramped). Breakfast, especially on weekends, draws sizable crowds—try the Big Ass Breakfast Sandwich, stuffed with eggs, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and cheddar. Later in the day, favorites include a justly famous tortilla soup, a house-made black-bean burger, and green-chile and pork tamales. A bakery doles out tempting sweets, and the corkage fee for wine purchased in the adjacent market is just $15. Drawbacks include relatively steep prices and often unfriendly and slow service.
