Paloma

$$ Railyard District Mexican

Fodor’s Expert Review

A fun go-to for happy hour, weekend brunch, or dinner with a few friends, this bright and bustling modern take on a Mexican cantina offers plenty of shareable small plates as well as a few bigger dishes, including a perfectly roasted half chicken with Swiss chard, squash, and a classic mole poblano sauce. Street tacos—crispy Baja-style sea bass, cauliflower with marcona almonds, lamb barbacoa with smoky adobo sauce—are another specialty, as is the remolacha salad of hibiscus beets, citrus, seasonal fruits, and frisee. You'll also find well-prepared versions of Mexican and Tex-Mex classics, from nachos to tortilla soup to fajitas. Although lunch isn't served, Paloma does present a terrific brunch on weekends featuring chorizo-egg tortas, mushroom-and-egg sopes, and some worthy excuses for daytime drinking, including the horchata borracha, with house-made horchata, mexcal, tequila, blood orange, and canela.
