Fodor’s Expert Review
A couple of miles south of Downtown in a spacious adobe building with pitched ceilings and a charming patio, Midtown Bistro presents creative modern American cuisine at prices a couple of notches below what the upscale heavy hitters near the Plaza and Canyon Road charge. In every sense, from the service to the excellent food, this somewhat under-the-radar eatery succeeds. Dishes like grilled French-cut, bacon-wrapped pork chop with gingered sweet potato puree, bok choy, and habanero-pineapple syrup, and filet mignon with roasted poblano gratin, broccoli, and truffle-butter are at once boldly flavorful, accessible, and filling. Lunch is more casual, with an emphasis on salads and sandwiches. A short but smart wine list delivers bottles from all over the world.
