Fodor's Expert Review Maria's of Santa Fe

$ South Side Casual

Creaky wood floors and dark-wood vigas set the scene for decent traditional New Mexican cuisine, but this rustic restaurant's real claim to fame is its selection of more than 100 types of margaritas. The house version is one of the best in town (and you may have surmised that Santa Feans take our margaritas seriously). Get the SilverCoin if you want to go top-shelf and leave the rest of the super tequilas to sip on without intrusion of other flavors. The place holds its own as a reliable, supertasty source of authentic New Mexican fare, including chiles rellenos, blue-corn enchiladas, and green-chile tamales. The Galisteo chicken, parboiled and covered in red chiles, is simple and satisfying.
