You can't miss the vivid murals on the building in sleepy Peñasco that houses both a vintage theater and an intimate restaurant where acclaimed chef-owners Kai Harper Leah and Ki Holste serve up tantalizing farm-to-table fare, from bountiful salads and creatively topped pizzas to triple-layer chocolate cake. This is hands down the best restaurant on the High Road. Harper Leah earned her stripes at San Francisco's famed vegetarian restaurant, Greens, and Holste is a talented pastry chef. Try the fantastic green-chile bison stew, with meat from neighboring Picuris Pueblo's bison herd; it comes with perfectly moist but crumbly cornbread to soak up all the goodness. Espresso drinks and dessert also hit the spot. You can dine on the patio in warm weather.
