Car Travel

The park entrance is 21 miles southwest of Carlsbad, New Mexico, and 32 miles north of Guadalupe Mountains National Park via U.S. 62/180. The ascending 7-mile Carlsbad Cavern Highway from the turnoff at Whites City is paved with pull-outs, which allow motorists to take in the view. Be alert for wildlife crossing roadways, especially in the early morning and at night. There's a gas station near the entrance to the park.
