Fodor's Review

The drive to the top of the imposing Mt. Washington is among the most memorable White Mountains experiences. Your route: the narrow, curving Mt. Washington Auto Road, which climbs 4,600 feet in a little more than 7 miles. Upon admission to this private road, drivers receive a CD with a narrated tour, along with a bumper sticker that reads, "This car climbed Mt. Washington." The narration is fascinating, and the views are breathtaking. Once at the top, check out Extreme Mount Washington, an interactive museum dedicated to science and weather.
