For many years a workaday mill town with relatively little tourism appeal, Meredith has become a popular summer getaway thanks largely to the transformation in recent years of several historic downtown buildings into Mill Falls, now a cluster of hotels, restaurants, and shops overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee. Take a stroll down Main Street, which is dotted with intimate cafés, boutiques, and antiques stores, and along the lakefront, where you'll find a bustling marina, sculpture walk, and some lively dockside restaurants.
