Skiing

Jiminy Peak. The only full-service ski and snowboard resort in the Berkshires, Jiminy Peak is also the largest in southern New England. This is mostly a cruising mountain. Trails are groomed daily, though some small moguls are left to build up along the slope sides. The steepest black-diamond runs are on the upper head walls; longer, outer runs make for good intermediate terrain. There's night skiing daily, and snowmaking capacity can cover 93% of skiable terrain. Jiminy has three terrain parks, as well as a weekends-only mountain coaster: a two-person cart that shoots down the mountain at speeds of up to 25 mph. During the summer, the resort transforms into an adventure park. Facilities: 45 trails; 170 acres; 1,150-foot vertical drop; 9 lifts. 37 Corey Rd., Hancock, Massachusetts, 01237. 413/738–5500; 888/454–6469; www.jiminypeak.com. Lift ticket: $76.
