This graceful old Victorian, converted into a 10-room inn, is surrounded by carefully maintained gardens and brick patios and is a welcoming home away from home for many of its repeat guests. Helpful owners Jim Rizzo and Dave McGlothlin are very welcoming and ready with advice and tips on exploring Provincetown.
YOU SHOULD KNOW The inn is adults only. Guests must be 18 or above.
Guest rooms in this elegant but reasonably priced art-inspired inn are named after the greats like Rembrandt, Picasso, Monet, Van Gogh and so on. Each room is warmly appointed with brass bed frames and rich fabrics. Several of the tall-windowed rooms have partial views of the bay, and all have luxury linens and duvets.
YOU SHOULD KNOW In high season, there are minimum stay requirements of four nights for weekends and three nights for weekdays. Other special weekends and holidays also may have minimums.
High-end toiletries are stocked in the bathrooms. It’s important to note that the five rooms on the upper floors have shared bathrooms, but they're also very reasonably priced.
The comfortable lobby is a cozy place to hang out, but in warm weather, most guests will be found lounging on the patio.
Provincetown is completely walkable, so if you drove to the inn, you can park your car and forget it (The inn has limited parking. Reserve in advance.). If you came on the ferry or via a bus, again, there’s no need for a car. The hotel is steps from the center of town. Renting a bike to get to the beach is a popular option.
Owners Jim and David recommend Fanizzi’s by the Sea (12-minute walk), calling it their “favorite hideaway.” They say it offers spectacular views of Cape Cod Bay, with big portions, reasonable prices and great drinks. They also like the Pointe Restaurant and Wine Bar (9-minute walk), which has “excellent service in a charming setting.”
The Squealing Pig (3-minute walk) has “some of the best burgers in town and by far the best selection of beers,” according to the owners. They also call the Boatslip (12-minute walk) a "must-do" for everyone. Every afternoon at 4pm, the deck of the Boatslip is transformed into Provincetown's biggest outdoor dance party.
WHY WE LIKE IT
This inn reflects the warm personalities of its owners and its location and prices can’t be beat. Staying here feels like visiting friends and the many repeat guests reinforce this feeling. Whether you’re enjoying the outdoor fit pit on the patio with old friends or relaxing in the living room/lobby with new acquaintances, you’ll feel at home.
