Why We Like It

The Chatham Bars Inn, originally built in 1914, is one of the most elegant resorts on Cape Cod, with a long list of amenities, making it a premier spot to stay. Highlights include its private quarter-mile beach, elegant interiors, 25-acre gardens, an excellent staff, acclaimed restaurant and a luxurious spa. Families return year after year to enjoy its hospitality.

The Chatham Bars Inn has an embarrassment of attractions, from its own private beach to its luxurious rooms. Its many amenities include a variety of outdoor activities for all ages, with fishing charters and sunset sails, tennis courts and a heated pool. It even offers a complimentary boat shuttle to another gorgeous beach. There is a fine dining restaurant and a fabulous kids’ program. The inn has been around since 1914 and has been beautifully restored to showcase its original glory, but with modern touches.

The Main Inn has two floors of guest rooms, each with its own balcony, and there are rooms located in cottages around the property. If you stay in one of the cottages, views are of the ocean or golf course. Many of the cottages also have fireplaces. The décor throughout is a clean nautical style with white, blue and brown tones and all bedding and linens are luxurious.

The adults-only spa suites include an oversized hydrotherapy tub, sauna, steam shower, built-in massage tables and a fireplace.

Full marble bathrooms (shower and tub) are stocked with L'Occitane and Aveda products.

The large lobby area offers plenty of places to sit, but the lovely lounge, with a fireplace and couches, is more comfortable and homey.

The inn has an oceanfront, heated pool, a children’s pool and hot tub.

The Spa at Chatham Bars Inn offers a variety of treatments and amenities, including oversized treatment rooms with private showers and a hydrotherapy tub.

A state-of-the-art fitness center is open 24/7 and features Precor treadmills, bikes, elliptical machines, Cyber Steppers stair climber machines, Cybex universal machine, and free weight dumbbell station. Regular fitness classes are offered.

There are four onsite restaurants to choose from, including the casual Sacred Cod Tavern; the seasonal waterfront Beach House Grill; the Veranda, which serves lunch; and the upscale STARS restaurant, which serves breakfast and dinner.

Getting Around

There aren’t a lot of compelling reasons to leave the lovely resort, what with its own private beach and amenities galore, but if you want, you can park your car and borrow the inn’s Lexus RC 350 F SPORT or a spacious GX 460 luxury utility vehicle for up to four hours without mileage restrictions. In addition, guests can hop on the “Bar Tender,” the inn’s beach launch, which provides complimentary shuttle service to and from the Outer Beach, a section of Cape Cod National Seashore and one of the most beautiful barrier beaches in the world.

The Wild Goose (13-minute walk) has a number of different dining areas, inside and outside, offering a varied and delicious menu (you will definitely find something for everyone here), a full bar with specialty cocktails and everything is freshly prepared. If you enjoy Italian food, Buca’s Tuscan Roadhouse (12-minute drive) offers wonderfully prepared Italian dishes with a Cape Cod twist.

The Chatham Squire (11-minute walk) is fun, local pub. The Impudent Oyster (10-minute walk) is another popular option.
