Fodor's Review

Inside the swanky XV Beacon hotel lies Mooo..., a luxurious, refined steak house that remains civilized despite the restaurant's somewhat goofy name. Look for the succulent (and very popular) Wagyu beef dumpling appetizer, along with dry-aged steaks with your choice of sauces, such as Bearnaise, and classic sides (creamed spinach, whipped potatoes, sautéed mushrooms). Although the Japanese Wagyu sirloin will set you back $160, portions are as exaggerated as the prices, so it's a worthwhile visit, and the wine list, with more than 500 entries, including a few century-old bottles, is an impressive but expensive proposition. Non-beef eaters will find raw-bar items, iceberg-lettuce salads, poultry, and local Maine lobster. Carnivores will be happy to know steak is also available at breakfast (with eggs), lunch, and Sunday brunch.
