Fodor's Review

Chef-owner Alia Radjeb Meddeb spent her childhood years in France and Tunisia—a fact reflected sharply in her menu at this tiny, casual eatery with brick walls, tin and glass lights, and pillow-backed benches that could easily be her home. Imagine chickpea custard with harissa (hot sauce) tapenade, spicy grilled lamb chops, and seven-vegetable couscous served with a flavorful broth. If you give her 36 hours advance notice, she'll make you a Classic Bastilla Torte, a bewitching wedding dish of filo pastry layered with sweet cinnamon, saffron, squab (or chicken), figs, mint, and a whiff of orange-blossom water. No alcohol is served, but after a few sips of her spiced lemonade with rose petals, you won't care.
