Kimpton Onyx Hotel
155 Portland St. 02114, Boston, Massachusetts 02114, USAWhy We Like It
The extremely pet-friendly Onyx welcomes dogs of any size, which is rare for Boston hotels.
Fodor's Expert Review
This contemporary Kimpton hotel goes for the sexy, supper-club atmosphere. Located a block from North Station, it's great for travelers who want to check out the nearby North End and Beacon Hill. If the Celtics or the Bruins are in town, you'll get a lively, sports-loving crowd.
You Should Know The neighborhood can get a bit rowdy on game nights, so expect a bit of noise.

Room
The rooms conjure up a modern gentlemen’s quarter with a palette of cool gray textures and finishes, mixed with bright accents of red and warm metal. The result is refined distinction with classic comfort. All have plush linens and flat-screen TVs.
Tip If you're a light sleeper, ask to be put in a room farther away from the lobby or elevators.
Bathroom
Bathrooms are small, but well equipped with Atelier Bloem bath products and plush bathrobes.
Lobby
The Onyx's very small lobby isn't much of a place to hang out, and it leads directly into the bar/restaurant (which is also tiny). But the complimentary coffee every morning is certainly appreciated.
Spa
There is no spa, but in-room spa treatments are available upon request.
Gym
There is a small gym with cardio machines, yoga mats, jump ropes, and free weights. If you'd like to borrow a bicycle to take a ride around town, just ask!
Tip Every room comes with its own yoga mat.
Dining
The Ruby Room is the Onyx's small bar and restaurant that's open for breakfast and dinner. However with tons of options for food and drink in the area, you might find better options outside.
Drinking
Sip an ice-cold martini and nibble some tapas in the Ruby Room, the hotel's small bar.

Restaurants
If you're willing to wait in line, head to the original Regina Pizzeria (6-minute walk) in the North End. For a high-end Italian experience, try Bricco (10-miniute walk) on Hanover Street in the North End.
