Fodor's Review

"The town that fooled the British" in the War of 1812 diverted fire from targets by strategically placing lanterns under the fog cover. The shelling hit just one structure, this homebuilt in 1805. It's not open to the public, but you can see it on Mulberry Street at the northwest edge of St. Mary's Square. This square, dedicated to public use, is the core of a neighborhood whose architecture has remained largely unchanged since the 1800s.
