Cumberland Building/Architectural Site

Along the Old National Road out of Cumberland stands the only remaining tollhouse in Maryland. Built in 1836, the historic LaVale Toll Gate House is a unique, seven-sided, four-room building that housed the gatekeepers who collected tolls until the early 1900s.
