Fodor's Expert Review Mariza
New Orleanians need no further evidence of the Bywater's gentrification: behold Mariza, the second restaurant from chef Ian Schnoebelen and general manager Laurie Casebonne (of Iris in the French Quarter). This eatery has it all: charm, comfort, and serious Italian eats at affordable prices, like the duck ragoût papardelle with liver mousse, lamb meatballs with poached duck egg, and braised lamb belly atop creamy polenta. House-cured meats, homemade pastas, and excellent pizzas round out the list of menu attractions, and the exposed brick walls and high ceilings make for an airy, comfortable dining experience.
