Fodor's Expert Review Le Meridien
333 Poydras St., New Orleans, Louisiana 70130, USA See on Map
A large modern space renovated in 2014, the hip, airy lobby lets guests mingle and relax before heading out to the many sights and spots located conveniently nearby this hotel.
YOU SHOULD KNOW At $45/night, valet here is quite pricey, but not unusual for hotels in the area. Book a nearby lot and trek it a few blocks, or consider visiting New Orleans without a car to save funds.
room
King beds are roomy and comfortable, decor is sleek and modern, and room windows (though some are quite small) offer views of the city.
bathroom
Small bathrooms have modern walk-in showers.
lobby
With two story ceilings, floating shelves full of art books, and plenty of living room areas and high tables, this large lobby is designed to be a hip hangout for guests and friends. Beyond the restaurant you'll find an outdoor courtyard looking out onto Poydras Street.
pool
Rooftop views, roomy cabanas, and potted palm trees bring glamour to this small pool and lounge area.
gym
A 24-hour fitness center looks out onto the pool area, and offers several cardio machines, strength training equipment, and free weights.
dining
In a chic space on the ground floor, LMNO serves New Orleans-inspired entrees for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Marche on the second floor is a great location for business luncheons and private dinners, when reserved ahead of time, and the hotel is flexible about making it work for your group's needs.
LOCATION
Getting Around
Its about a 5-minute walk to both the St. Charles and Canal streetcar lines, which can take you to Uptown, Garden District, and Mid City.
Restaurants
It's a 6-minute walk to NOSH (New Orleans Social House), downtown's chic new wine bar serving mezze, flatbreads, and fresh oysters. Locals will again and again recommend Peche (8-minute walk) for its stellar seafood and refined digs.
WHY WE LIKE IT
It offers a little more than the typical chain hotel in this area, in terms of style, drinks, and dining. It's an enjoyable (and convenient) place to come home to after a long day out on the town.
