Fodor's Expert Review Town
Town remains a hot spot for Honolulu's creative class and farm-to-table diners, where chef-owner Ed Kenney and his partner Dave Caldiero offer a Mediterranean-eclectic menu ranging from hand-cut pastas and refreshing, composed salads (pastas and salads) to clean preparations of fish and meat (polenta with egg and asparagus or buttermilk panna cotta). The menu is constantly changing, reflecting what's fresh and available. Order a bunch of small plates to share—ahi tartare on risotto cakes and mussels in a fennel-Cinzano broth are instant winners—or go big with dishes like the fish of the day, pork chop, or steak, all with fresh sides. If you're a vegetarian, ask for the bountiful veggie plate, which isn't on the menu, or ask your server to modify a dish, which they are always happy to do. The restaurant serves lunch, too, and for many, the burger and fries is believed to be the best in town.
