Fodor's Expert Review The Willows

$$$$ Moiliili Hawaiian

Old-time locals come to this buffet-only spot to celebrate things like graduations, showers, and centennials, and it hosts its share of wedding receptions (there's a chapel on-site), not to mention a full acre of pavilions overlooking a network of ponds (once natural streams flowing from mountain to sea). The Island-style comfort food includes signature chicken-and-shrimp curry (Joy of Cooking–style, not Indian), crab legs and lobster claws, along with local favorites such as laulau (a steamed bundle of ti leaves containing pork, butterfish, and taro tops), oxtail soup, and kalua pig. And of course, don't forget the carving station and a table loaded with desserts. An island institution, it operates on the "if ain't broke, don't fix it" motto.
