Fodor's Expert Review Scratch Kitchen & Meatery

$$ Kakaako Hawaiian
Tucked into the chic South Shore Market in Kakaako's Ward Village, this former Chinatown spot has moved uptown with its hipster decor, open kitchen, and creative menu. For breakfast, you'll be drawn to milk-and-cereal pancakes; for dinner it's small plates that might include foi gras loco moco or chicken and waffles. The motto—"simple, rustic, approachable"—might seem a bit overstated, particularly as diners struggle to select just one or two things from the creative menu. But the good food, fun vibe, and new location have people hooked.
