Fodor's Expert Review Morimoto Asia Waikiki

$$$$ Waikiki Japanese
Locals were surprised when chef Masahara Morimoto vacated the Modern for new digs at the renovated and rebranded Alohilani Resort (formerly the Pacific Beach hotel), but loyalists have not been disappointed. The sleek space includes an open-air lanai and gorgeous bar, as well as a dining room designed for entertaining clients or celebrating with friends. Enjoy some Morimoto classics, including ishiyaki buri bop (yellowtail seared tableside with pickled daikon, royal fern, and egg yolk), and spicy black pepper steak, as well as a varied dim sum, sushi, and specialty roll menu. Try the tofu, which is made right at your table. A casual ramen spot is expected at the same location in 2018, Momosan by Morimoto, making it clear the Iron Chef is putting down roots in this revitalized hotel.
