Kua Aina Sandwich
Fodor’s Expert Review
This North Shore spot has gone from funky burger shack (it first opened in 1975) to institution, with crowds of tourists and locals standing in line to order the large, hand-formed burgers heaped with bacon, cheese, salsa, and pineapples. Frankly, there are better burgers to be had around the island, but this place commands a loyal following who return again and again. The patties are packed tight, so they tend to be on the dry side. The shoestring fries are barely salted but tasty. This may be one of those spots handed over to the visitors by the locals. Other Oahu locations have closed, but they've still got burger joints in Tokyo and London.
