Fodor's Expert Review Il Lupino Trattoria & Wine Bar
Il Lupino doesn't reinvent Italian cuisine—you get pretty good renditions of tried-and-true favorites such as fried calamari, caprese salad, four-cheese pizza, bucatini all'amatriciana, and a grilled veal chop. But when you put all the elements together—the yellow awning, the brigade of white-shirted servers, the well-appointed wine locker, the patio seating, and long wood bar that doglegs out to the open air, not to mention the decent food—you get a well-rounded, enjoyable dining experience. The place is packed for happy hour, when you can order $7 small plates. Il Lupino even serves American breakfast: eggs Benedict, pancakes, and omelets, plus terrific acai bowls. Reservations aren't required, but with the knot of people normally waiting outside the entrance, they're recommended.
