Fodor's Expert Review MauiWine
Tour Maui's only winery and its historic grounds, the former Rose Ranch, for a chance to learn about its history—which includes visits by royal monarchs, sugar production, and cattle ranching—and to sample its coveted wines. The King's Cottage was built in the late 1800s for frequent visits of King Kalakaua, but today, tastings are held there daily. A more intimate tasting is held in the Old Jail building, and sometimes include unreleased wines or special bottlings. The winery's top seller, naturally, is the pineapple wine, Maui Blanc. The old Ranch Store across the road may look like a museum, but in fact it's an excellent pit stop—the elk burgers are fantastic.
