Fodor's Review

The "original home of the mai tai," Don the Beachcomber features a retro, tiki-bar setting with the absolute best view of Kailua Bay in town. Service can be slow, but the coconut prawns are worth the wait, as is the New York steak paired with bacon-wrapped shrimp. There is a sizable lunch and dinner menu at the bar daily, but you can't get lunch in the main restaurant, and dinner is only offered Thursday through Saturday; however, a breakfast buffet is served there daily. Try any of the nightly seafood specials. Save room for dessert; the Molten Lava Torte is a chocolate "sin-sation."
