The 18-acre grounds provide a peaceful and verdant background for this low-rise condominium complex bordering the Keauhou-Kona Country Club and within a five-minute drive of the nearest beaches (Kahaluu and Magic Sands). Large units have koa-wood cabinetwork and washer-dryers. The proximity of Keauhou Bay and Keauhou Shopping Center makes this complex an excellent choice for families.
YOU SHOULD KNOW Watch out for the mandatory departure cleaning costs when budgeting – they can be as much or more than the daily rate of the actual condo. Daily cleaning services, whether full or limited, are also going to cost you extra. Also, air conditioning will cost you extra, these are considered “breeze cooled” accommodations.
These extremely spacious (ranging from 1200 to 1800 square feet) vacation condos come in eight different options depending on size and view. Each comes with covered lanai, kitchen, and washer/dryer in the unit.
The price difference between the ocean view and fairway views units is pretty small, so we always recommend going for at least some ocean view if you can.
Bathrooms differ based on the unit, most are large and luxurious and have bathtub/shower combos and large vanities.
Guests check in at sister property Royal Sea Cliff Kona on Alii Drive.
There are three swimming pools that include ocean views, as well as three hot tubs.
There is no on-site dining, but each condo has a full kitchen and there are grills on the property.
You will need a car to get to your condo and around the island.
If you booked a Hawaiian vacation mostly because you love poke and seafood, you’ll definitely want to stop by Sun Dried Specialties (13-minute drive) – the name might not leave much of an impression, but the food definitely will. Holuakoa Gardens and Cafe (16-minute drive) is a slow food restaurant that sources lots of its ingredients locally (most within five miles of the restaurant) and changes its menu regularly based on the season and available ingredients.
TJ’s Pau Hana Hale (17-minute drive) is a new sports bar getting lots of love by locals, particularly because TJ is such a nice guy and makes a mean Old Fashioned. Kona Brewing Company (19-minute drive) has some of the best pizza you’ll find in Hawaii, paired with a fun atmosphere and the chance to taste a variety of their famous brews.
WHY WE LIKE IT
The price is right and the accommodations are nice for a family or small group, especially for a longer stay (that mandatory cleaning cost hurts a bit on a two night stay). It’s a very nice, quiet place to have as a base of operations and for recuperation when visiting the island.
