Fodor's Expert Review St. Patrick's Day Parade
The city's largest annual festival has evolved over the past two centuries to become one of the largest of its kind in the country. Each March, roughly 700,000 participants tip their hats (and their glasses) to the rolling hills of Ireland. River Street becomes a sea of green: clothes, beer, food, and even the water in city fountains is dyed the color of the clover. Hotel rates during this period can be as much as three times the norm, so reserve well in advance.
