Brought to you by the owners of those other great Savannah eateries B. Matthew's and Blowin' Smoke BBQ, Blue Turtle Bistro is a step in the fine dining direction on the city's southside. With careful attention to detail, the chefs here offers a gammut of impeccable dishes in a sharp, yet casual, atmosphere. Unpretentious small plates like corn-dog lollipops and calamari with fried lemon are right on the mark. Larger appetites would be remiss to leave without feasting on the braised lamb shank, cooked to tender perfection. Parents will appreciate the inexpensive menu offerings (not to mention the kids playroom). The recently added bar boasts a smart beer and wine list and serves educated cocktails made with small batch liquors; try their signature martini (made with blueberry vodka, crème de violette, and a hint of lemon) or the equally sophisticated sidecar.
