Getting Oriented

Although it’s commonly referred to as “downtown,” the Historic District lies on the northern edge of Savannah, just across the river from Hutchinson Island and South Carolina. The borders of the district are River Street to the north, Gaston Street to the south, and East Broad Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to the east and west.

Tybee Island is 18 miles east of Savannah via Victory Drive (U.S. 80).

  • The Victorian District and the Eastside. One of Savannah’s oldest neighborhoods, the Victorian District is where you’ll find gorgeous homes that date to the 1800s.

Historic Fort Pulaski and Oatland Island Wildlife Center are nearby.
  • The Southside, the Gateway, and Greater Savannah. Close to the airport, here's where you'll find big-box stores and affordable lodging.
