Sheraton Atlanta
165 Courtland St. NE, Atlanta, Georgia, 30303, United States, Atlanta, Georgia, USA
Why We Like It
The Sheraton offers a ton of value for those looking to stay in the heart of downtown Atlanta without paying the higher rates of nearby hotels. The amenities are great and rare, like a heated and optionally-covered outdoor pool and free Wi-Fi, as well as a tasty on-site restaurant and more than 95,000-square-feet of meeting and event space for business-oriented travelers.
In this convention, family, and pet-friendly hotel, there's ample meeting and exhibit space, a pool under a retractable roof, and fine dining with delicious takes on Southern fare. The rooms are spacious relative to other Downtown options and just as functional. Families will appreciate thoughtful touches such as tabletop checkers games and complimentary swim diapers for the pool. The lush courtyard and relaxing mezzanine set against brick arches offer respite.
YOU SHOULD KNOW Since the pool is a favorite attraction for kids, if you don't want to be bothered by the noise, you may want a room in the South tower on a higher floor. Also, the hotel is pet friendly, but certain breeds are not permitted. Check the website for details.
room
763 guest rooms come in a range of recently renovated styles, from traditional King rooms with comfy Signature Sheraton beds, 32" LCD flat screen TVs, free basic wifi and Starbucks tea, to Deluxe Poolside Double rooms that overlook the serene pool garden to corner suites and Club Level rooms with complimentary access to the Club Lounge. Amenities in the Club Lounge include daily breakfast for two, all day snacks and beverage, evening appetizers, coffee, Wi-Fi and business center services.
bathroom
Bathrooms recently underwent a complete overhaul with new toilets, tiles and amenities from Le Grand Bain. That said, the bathroom is tight, with sinks being quite close to the commode.
lobby
The lobby is large and very convention center hotel-like, with can't-miss-them check in desks complete with velour rope stanchions used to manage lines during large group check ins. There are beautiful black and cream marble floors and a seating area off to the side with contemporary couches, coffee tables and chairs.
pool
A standout feature of this hotel is most definitely the heated courtyard pool. Surrounded by lush greenery and covered by a retractable glass roof, the pool is accessible year-round and a favorite attraction for families.
If you’re traveling with kids, ask for a room in the North Tower, courtyard side, which offers easier access to the pool. Note that the pool is subject to close for private events, so call the hotel before your stay to make sure it will be available during your travel dates.
gym
The 24-hour fitness center features floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the courtyard pool and has everything from treadmills, ellipticals and stationary bikes to stability balls and free weights.
dining
Collage is a casual restaurant offering a breakfast and lunch buffet, as well as an a la carte breakfast menu. Fandangles is a slightly more formal dinner restaurant, with local and regional dishes like crawfish and scallion hush puppies and apple moonshine BBQ glazed roasted pork. For grab-and-go options, there's Deli for sandwiches and light bites for breakfast, lunch and dinner. In-room dining is also available from 6:30 a.m. until midnight.
drinking
The lobby bar at Sheraton Atlanta doesn't have a designated name, but you can find local beers and wine on their Paired menu, curated beverages and light bites pairing program. There are also drink menus at Fandangles and a full-service gazebo bar by the pool.

LOCATION
Getting Around
The hotel's downtown location makes a car unnecessary, plus parking is steep at $30 a night for self-pay and $40 per night for valet. The Peachtree Center MARTA station is an 8-minute walk from the hotel, and other major attractions like the Georgia World Congress Center, Centennial Olympic Park and Philips Arena are all within walking distance or a short drive away. Restaurants and bars are close, too.
Restaurants
It's a 5-minute walk for upscale French-Russian cuisine at Nikolai's Roof, an elegant white tablecloth restaurant on the 30th floor of the Hilton Atlanta. For a delicious lunch option, out for a 5-minute walk to Aviva by Kameel Mediterranean Grill for fresh and flavorful Mediterranean platters, sandwiches and salads.
