Fodor's Review

No visit to Sarasota is complete without a visit to this busy yet laid-back shopping and dining hub. One can literally refer to it as a hub because it's arranged around a large traffic circle in the middle of Lido Key. (Trivia: it was developed by John Ringling.) You'll find a sprinkling of upscale retail chains, including White House Black Market, but the area's small, imaginative boutiques are the real draw. Among them is Foxy Lady, which sells trendy women's clothing. The Met is also a good option for women's fashion. St. Armand's Circle also offers plenty of dining/desert (especially ice cream) options, nightlife, and just plain people-watching. Some days you can even spot a busker or two performing on one of the area's many street corners. The complex is disorienting, but it's divided into quadrants and on several corners you'll find a helpful map/directory.
