Fodor's Expert Review Guy Harvey Outpost

6000 Gulf Blvd., St. Pete Beach, Florida, 33706, USA

The namesake artist's trademark vibrantly painted swordfish, mahimahi, and other sea creatures adorn the walls of this high-rise beachfront hotel that offers good options for both dining and exploring. Among the facilities are two pools—one for adults and one welcoming children—plenty of hammocks, a surf simulator, a play area, and, best of all, several fire pits that serve as a gathering place where kids can make s'mores and adults can grab a beer at the pool-front tiki bar on nights when they are lighted. Rooms aren't overly fancy but have a kitchenette (microwave, sink, and mini-fridge) sufficient to heat up simple meals on nights when you don't want to eat out, and most are suites offering plenty of space for sitting. Rooms that face the beach have gorgeous sunset views. On-property is RumFish Grill, a popular seafood restaurant with a gigantic aquarium stocked with local sea life. The public can suit up for a swim in the tank during the restaurant's off-hours for $25.
