Not exactly a museum, this is really an expansive, bucolic park showcasing a peaceful and intriguing look at Old Florida, located about 20 minutes from downtown. Historic 19th-century buildings are on-site, including an 1880s pioneer farm, a one-room schoolhouse, and a Southern manor. On weekends, the village comes alive with living history demonstrations, including cooking, blacksmithing, quilting, and other activities of the day. A boardwalk meanders through the 52 acres of natural habitat that make up the zoo, which has such varied animals as panthers, bobcats, white-tailed deer, bald eagles, red wolves, hawks, owls, otters, and black bears.
