Fodor's Review

In this loftlike, five-story downtown building, the former headquarters of the Western Union Telegraph Company, a permanent collection of 20th-century art shares space with traveling exhibitions and a theater space. The museum, owned and managed by the University of North Florida, encompasses five galleries and ArtExplorium, a highly interactive educational exhibit for kids, as well as a funky gift shop and Nola MOCA, open for lunch on weekdays and for dinner on Thursdays. MOCA Jacksonville also hosts film series, theater performances, and workshops throughout the year, and packs a big art-wallop into a relatively small 14,000 square feet. A once-a-month Art Walk is free to all.
