Jewish Museum of Florida - FIU

South Beach Museum/Gallery

Fodor’s Expert Review

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this former synagogue, built in 1936, contains art deco chandeliers, 80 impressive stained-glass windows, and a permanent exhibit, MOSAIC: Jewish Life in Florida, which depicts more than 235 years of the Florida Jewish experience. A partnership with Florida International University, the Jewish Museum also houses a store filled with books, jewelry, and other souvenirs as well as playing host to traveling exhibits and special events. Twice monthly, the museum hosts Jewish Food Walking Tours, where you'll learn about Jewish-owned businesses, past and present, and eat your way through Miami Beach's burgeoning SoFi neighborhood. The museum store is closed Saturday, though the museum itself is open.
