Fodor's Expert Review Pubbelly Sushi
The team behind South Beach’s wildly popular Pubbelly gastropub teamed up with sushi chef Yuki Leto to create the original Pubbelly Sushi, a 40-seat canteen doling out contemporary, Japanese-inspired sharing plates. Now there are four spread between Miami and the Dominican Republic. You could go light with the grade-A sashimi or meats from the robata (Japanese charcoal) grill, but the real fun lies in the flavor-rich “Snacks” and “Pubbelly Rolls.” Start with a rock shrimp tempura roll and graduate to the bigeye tuna roll (spicy tuna over squares of crispy rice) and Navarro salmon (salmon, crab, melted mozzarella, and fried onions). Wash it all down with the house sake cocktails. They’re all deliciously addicting, but the Spicy Pina (jalapeño, pineapple, sake) goes best with a steamy Miami evening.
