Fodor's Expert Review JW Marriott Marquis Miami

255 Biscayne Blvd. Way, Miami, Florida, 33131, United States See on Map

The marriage of Marriott's JW and Marquis brands created a truly tech-savvy, contemporary, and stylish business-minded hotel—you may never have seen another Marriott quite like this one. From the three-story crystal chandelier in the entry to the smart and symmetric guest rooms, the hotel feels futuristic and polished. Rooms are incredibly spacious and have so many electronic gadgets (Cisco IP phones, 55-inch Samsung flatscreens, cordless portable phones you can carry around the hotel) that you may find it a challenge to use them all in one visit. A large, semi-circular desk and towering full-length mirrors please both business types and fashionistas. Bathrooms have separate showers and bathtubs. Amenities on-site include a jewelry store, Daniel Boloud's di Bistro Moderne, a 50,000-square-foot entertainment complex (with an NBA-approved basketball arena, virtual bowling alley, tennis court, and golf school), and a world-class spa.

Spacious rooms offer sweeping views of the Miami skyline or Biscayne Bay from floor-to-ceiling windows. All rooms offer bottled water, a mini-bar, and a coffee maker. Less expensive rooms have internet and Wi-Fi for a fee. All rooms offer workspace and seating areas, with some rooms offering work space that would please a CEO.

YOU SHOULD KNOW Concierge floor rooms offer complimentary non-alcoholic beverage, bites, and daily breakfast.

Marble bathrooms offer large tubs, separate shower, makeup mirror, bath products, and a hair dryer.

Two giant griffins--the winged creatures that are the brand's mascot--greet you upon arrival. The lobby is bustling and filled with mostly business travelers.

The outdoor rooftop pool allows for stunning views of the ever-growing Miami skyline and Biscayne Bay.

The Enliven Spa presents a host of treatments designed to relax both business and leisure travelers. Services range from scalp treatments and paraffin hand treatments to body wraps and facials.

Met2 Fitness is open 24 hours a day and cardio equipment, a yoga studio, and free weights.

Celebrity chef Daniel Boulud presents Boulud Sud, an elegant restaurant that celebrates food inspired from the chef's travels throughout the Mediterranean.

Met Cafe and Bar offers casual fare and cocktails. Plenty of TV's are on hand for catching your favorite team. Boulud Sud also features a beautiful marble bar with an expansive wine selection.

Getting Around

The Miami MetroMover is a tram service that connects Downtown Miami to Brickell. The hotel is walking distance from most Downtown Miami attractions.

Edge Steak & Bar (5-minute drive) offers prime steaks and seafood from chef Aaron Brooks. The chef, an Australian native, also offers plenty of lamb dishes and some specials from his homeland. Arson (5-minute walk) features a good selection of meats, fish, and vegetables cooked on a Josper grill by James Beard semifinalist, Deme Lomas.

Sugar (5-minute drive) offers luxe cocktails with a stunning rooftop view. The Corner (10-minute drive) is a locals hangout that serves prohibition cocktails and draft beer with a distinct New Orleans vibe. The corner is open very late most nights to cater to a post-clubbing crowd.

Business travelers and vacationers alike will feel pampered by large accommodations and plenty of amenities.
