Formerly Canyon Ranch Miami, the Carillon Hotel & Spa now carries the art deco building's original name but the physical and mental well-being motif of its predecessor—a 150-all-suite beachfront hotel, defined by a 70,000-square-foot wellness spa, including a rock-climbing wall, 54 treatment rooms, and 30 exercise classes daily. If you grow tired of swimming in the hotel's four pools, you'll find 750 linear feet of oceanfront out back. In between exercise and yoga sessions, lounge around your well-appointed suite, with its 400-thread-count Dreamcotton linens and flat-panel HDTV, or delight in an organic meal at the gourmet lobby restaurant. If you're looking to avoid the noise and toxicity of everyday life, you'll appreciate the property-wide ban on smoking and on cell phones in all common areas (including restaurants).
You can spread out at the Carillon's one and two-bedroom suites. Each suite affords guests with outstanding and unobstructed views from floor-to-ceiling windows (some suites are equipped with balconies). Every suite is furnished with a full kitchen with KitchenAid appliances and a Neospresso machine. If you want to tune into the world, there's complimentary WiFi or listen to music on the Bose system.
Dogs of up to 35 pounds are welcome with 48-hour advance notice in one of the resort's many pet-friendly suites. Your pooch will be pampered by his own concierge service that can help provide vet services, dog sitters, treats, and more.
Bathrooms have walk-in rain showers, soaking tubs, and vanity areas.
The lobby is one of the most tranquil in Miami, filled with greenery and soothing colors. A driftwood hanging sculpture is a focal point and several different lounge areas provide places to read and relax.
Four pools range in experiences. Some are adults-only, while some are family friendly. Cabana rentals and food and beverage service are available at all pools. The pools are part of a large outdoor deck filled with oversized artwork that leads to Miami Beach and the Miami Beach broadwalk.
The Miami Beach broadwalk spans for miles north and south and is perfect for a morning walk or afternoon bike ride.
As a wellness-focused resort, the spa plays a major part in the Carillon experience. A hydrotherapy circuit helps refresh and relax, and massages, facials, and a seaside detox ritual are all services available.
The spa is for the use of guests 14 and over, however there are childrens' spa services available to younger family members.
The fitness center has a stunning view of the beach and includes state-of-the art equipment and a two-story rock climbing wall.
The Strand Bar & Grill offers seafood-centric dishes by executive chef Stephen Ullrich in consultation with an in-house nutritionish. The Juice Bar is the place to go to for grab and go healthful snacks and refreshment.
The Strand Bar offers innovative takes on classic craft cocktails. Daydrink at the Cabana pool bar.
Miami Beach public buses stop in front of the hotel and travel north and south along Collins Ave, or Uber to mainland Miami.
Le Zoo (10-minute drive) is a gorgeous and lively French bistro by Stephen Starr. Cafe Prima Pasta (10-minute walk) is a locals hangout that serves steaming bowls of well-priced pasta and traditional "red sauce" Italian dishes.
The Broken Shaker (10-minute drive) offers cocktails made with fresh herbs from its own garden. Wunderbar (10-minute drive) serves classic cocktails in an intimate speakeasy setting.
