Fodor's Review

After flooding badly damaged the stunning red-rock canyon in 2013, the falls, which plummet into a tiny emerald pool, reopened in the summer of 2015 with new life. Visitors can no longer drive the canyon road to the falls but parking is free at the Broadmoor Hotel where a shuttle will take passengers to and from the site. A series of zip lines ranging from 300 to more than 1,722 feet long send adventurers sailing nearly 500 feet above the canyon floor, and rope bridges that hang about 300 feet high provide a similar bird's-eye view at a slower pace. The new Restaurant 1859 has a patio overlooking the falls where patrons will find buttermilk biscuits and Virginia country ham, local trout prepared eight different ways, and a mixed game grill.
