Fodor's Expert Review Black Jack's Inn

212 E. 2nd St., Trinidad, Colorado, 81082, USA

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

This three-room 1904 bed & breakfast is cozy, friendly and right in the thick of El Corazon. Owner-operators Robin and Jane Barker will welcome you to the property, point you toward Trinidad's many museums (the two largest of which are just two blocks away) and make you breakfast in the morning. The B&B's largest room is named after Charles H. Nichols, who built the building. And they're quick to note their resident cats Yoda, Rowdy, Sandy and Abby (rhymes with "tabby"), good news for cat-lovers and bad news for those with allergies.

PROS

  • a stay at the Stone Mansion is a fun and education living history exercise

CONS

  • with only three rooms, the B&amp
  • amp
  • B can be difficult to book on big weekends
