Why We Like It

The Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center is the perfect spot to stay for a convention. A quality property with upscale offerings, it’s designed with business travelers in mind, but is located perfectly to experience Denver, and find entertainment at the theater complex or a concert at the nearby Paramount theater.

Fodor's Expert Review

The location of this conventioneer favorite can’t be beat. Directly across the street from the 800,000-square-foot Colorado Convention Center, the Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center is clean, comfortable, and one of the largest hotel properties in Denver. Though the guest list is often out-of-towners, it’s also a favorite among front-range residents and mountain dwellers who come into Denver for a night on the town. Built in 2005, the property was remodeled and updated as recently as 2014.

Room

Each of the 1,100 rooms has a desk, laptop safe, and complimentary Wi-Fi. In addition to more work and lounge space, the 59 suites also have individual wet bars. Upgrade to a Regency Club room and you’ll gain access to a private lounge with food and drink served all day, including breakfast and an evening snack. The hotel also boasts a large number of accessible rooms.

Bathroom

The bathrooms are standard, but spacious, with ample counter space and large mirrors. You’ll also find complimentary products from KenetMD, a luxury skincare line developed by a New York dermatologist.

Lobby

The vast lobby, with its gleaming granite floors and metal columns, is contemporary and sleek with leather seating scattered throughout. Look up and you’ll see bronze climbers mounting the main wall—cool art from local sculptor Bill Starke. The check-in and concierge counter is large, to accommodate high traffic, and also includes self check-in kiosks. In addition, the main-floor also houses a lobby bar and a separate restaurant.

Pool

The heated lap pool is on the smaller side, but perfect for morning laps. Because the hotel attracts convention and business visitor traffic, there aren’t very many kids, so the pool and hot tub are often full of socializing adults.

Tip Don’t miss the rooftop hot tub on the sun deck!

Spa

The independent Spa Universaire is hosted on the fifth floor of the Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center. The spa uses Aveda and Eminence organic products and their standard services include massage, facials, nail care, and waxing. Every treatment includes an aromatherapy foot bath.

Gym

Aside from the outdoor whirlpool and sun deck, this property boasts a massive gym (6,700 sq. ft.) with cardio and weight machines, as well as free weights and yoga equipment. One of the larger gyms in the area, it’s the spot for roving fitness buffs.

Tip If you’re traveling during warm weather, book one of the hotel’s Urban Explorer Bike Tour packages to see Denver historic sites by bicycle and hear ghost stories and gossip. Not a bike fan? Ask the concierge for a jogging map.

Dining

Altitude Restaurant, the shiny main floor dining room, is open from 6:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. for breakfast, brunch, and lunch, and then reopens from 5:30 to 10 p.m. for dinner. Reservations can be made via OpenTable. The restaurant offers special buffet menus for holidays, such as Easter or Mother’s Day, and hosts a three-course prix fixe prime rib dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Perks Coffee & More, serving Starbucks coffee and grab-and-go food items and snacks, is open 24 hours.

Drinking

Two bars are on-site to treat thirsty guests. In addition to the lobby bar, the Peaks Lounge on the 27th floor of the hotel offers breathtaking views of the city and the mountains. Peaks Lounge also serves small plates and desserts, as well as an abundance of Colorado spirits, an ample list of Colorado craft beer, and a typical but extensive wine list.

You Should Know The Peaks Lounge is all ages until 10 p.m. After 10 p.m., all guests must be 21 or older.
