Fodor's Expert Review Restaurant LuLu
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
The sunny, sensual, and assertive flavors of Provençale cooking—think olive tapenade, aioli, and lemony vinaigrettes—are showcased here. At this outpost of the famous San Francisco restaurant, the formula remains the same: small plates of southern French cooking served family-style in a spare, modern, and sexy dining room. Standouts include rotisserie meats, succulent roasted mussels, homemade gnocchi, and a fantastic wine list, with 50 vintages available in 2-ounce pours. Outside, the sidewalk café includes a fire pit where kids will love do-it-themselves s'mores. LuLu's only drawback is price, but if you can swing it, it's worth every penny. The waiters wear jeans, so you can, too.
