Fodor's Expert Review Blue Door Group Inns of Mendocino
10481 Howard St., Mendocino, California, 95460, USA
Each inn has its own appeal—Blue Door Inn for its garden, Packard House for its serene setting, JD House for its ocean views (and garden, too)—with all three worth consideration for their proximity to restaurants, shops, and the Mendocino Headlands. The service is efficient but not too chummy, with the staff well qualified to dispense touring and other advice if desired. The company that manages three Victorian properties within a few blocks of each other in Mendocino village takes its name from the largest (the Blue Door Inn), with it and the other two (the Packard House and JD House) refreshed with richly colored walls, crisp linens, and contemporary art and furnishings yet retaining their original charm.
